Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don't get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session.

Energy Work

Energy work is based on the belief that everyone has a \"life force\", and that the body needs to sustain its balance for optimum health. Anytime you experience emotional or physical illness, it indicates that your life force has simply become unbalanced. I work directly with your energy field to restore balance and flow to your entire system. And once your energy field has been restored to full health, your body will follow.

Herbal Chinese Massage Cupping

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, stationary cups are placed on the skin and left for a period of five to fifteen minutes, and the cups may also be moved over the area. The goal of Chinese cupping is to move stagnation of blood and chi, disperse internal heat, and other applications based on TCM. Traditional cupping therapies are used in many cultures on both adults and children for respiratory conditions and pain relief.

In Herbal Massage Cupping, an herbal liniment is placed on the affected area and then a cup in added to facilitate healing with several structures of the body. For example this is used for martial art athletes that have taken many hits, and also fascial problems that could lead to chronic pain. This therapy is used to soften tight muscles and tone attachments, loosen adhesions and lift connective tissue, bring hydration and blood flow to body tissues, and drain excess fluids and toxins by opening lymphatic pathways.

Hot Stone Therapy

Hot Stone Therapy is a style of massage where heated stones are placed at specific sites on your body to deepen relaxation and promote circulation in your muscles. Muscles that are heated with these stones release tension and stress much more deeply and quickly than with a traditional massage. The overall experience is very relaxing, nurturing, and rejuvenating.

Intra-Oral Massage

Intra-Oral is a massage that focuses on the muscles both inside and outside of the mouth and jaw. This is a treatment targeted towards people who are experiencing chronic headaches, jaw tension, and TMJ disorder.

Kinesis Myofascial Integration

This technique was developed by Tom Myers the author of Anatomy Trains-Myofascial Meridians.  He was a student of Ida P. Rolf the pioneer of "Structural Integration".

KMI is similar to massage therapy by the using hands to engage the tissue, but this technique focuses on the connective tissue (Fascia) the endless web throughout our entire structure.  The fascia can store long held patterns of strain, habit, and even emotions.

The series of sessions are designed for each clients needs, and goals!  A session includes postural assessment, bodywork, and breathing techniques together.  The manual movement of any 12 Myofascial Meridians are safe, effective, and long-lasting with stretching and specific changing of body habits.

Medical Massage

Medical Massage differs from regular Massage and Bodywork in that the treatment is specifically directed to resolve conditions diagnosed by a medical doctor.  I may use a variety of modalities or techniques during the treatment, but I focus the treatment only on the specific areas of the body related to the diagnosis.  This enhances the body’s natural self-healing process and reduces the needed recovery time from injury.
The list for medical conditions do vary due to contraindications of the clients health, such as Auto Immune Diseases, Cardiovascular, or Lymphatic Disorders. This is the main reason to have a working health team to monitor results.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial release is a form of soft tissue therapy intended to eliminate pain, increase range of motion, and re-balance the entire body. It does this by using massage techniques to stretch the fascia and release the bonds that exist between the fascia, muscles and bones. Fascia is the connective tissue that connects and covers all muscles, organs, and skeletal structures of the body. Direct myofascial release is sometimes known as deep tissue work. Indirect release applies light pressure and gently stretches the fascia; this allows for increased blood circulation and relief from pain.

MYOSKELETAL ALIGNMENT

MYOSKELETAL ALIGNMENT-created by Erik Dalton PH.D.  This training has evolved from "Structural Integration", or also known as a form of "Rolfing"!  This relationship continues to grow as body-worker's have integrated massage and pain management solutions with manual therapy.

Prolonged posture stress leads to functional changes, such as; loss of flexibility; Hyper/hypo mobility; Edema; Myofascial Trigger Points; Muscle Spasm; Muscle Testing Weakness; Recurrent Pain Patterns; Shallow Breathing; Chronic Fatigue; and Digestive/Hormonal Disorders.

Assessing by tissue (massage) and postural-pattern clues, these specific techniques can alleviate these problems and make large to subtle changes in health problems.  Overall improvement of posture may be time consuming and frequently neglected, however with hands on structural Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques, long lasting results will contribute to the goal of "perfect posture"

Neuromuscular Therapy

Neuromuscular therapy is a system of massage techniques that were developed in the 1930's by Dr. Stanley Lief in England. It uses a holistic approach towards healing, emphasizing and stimulating the body's natural ability to heal itself. Neuromuscular therapy also enhances the function of joints and muscles, and accelerates the overall healing process by facilitating the release of endorphins.

Orthopedic Massage

Orthopedic massage is a style of massage therapy focused on treating painful conditions that affect the soft tissues of the body. Because orthopedic massage is designed to treat medical conditions, it requires extensive training. It involves releasing tense muscles, helping to stretch and lengthen tight muscles and tendons, and decompress rigid joints. My goal is to restore full health to the soft tissues of your body, both treating your specific conditions as well as improving your overall well-being.

Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese form of energy work that cleanses and balances the energy system in the body. As a result, the body's natural self-healing mechanisms strengthen, helping to establish optimum health. During a session, I work directly with your energy field to remove blockages, detoxify your system, and restore your vital life force energy. Reiki utilizes a gentle laying on of hands to conduct the necessary energy force between us. The benefits of Reiki range from the release of habitual mental/emotional stress to alleviating chronic pain.

Sports Massage

Sports Massage is a type of massage designed for highly active people who engage in athletics. Engaging in sports is harsh on the body and can often lead to injuries in both the short and long term. Sports Massage enhances performance and prolongs a sports career by helping to prevent injury, reduce pains and swelling in the body, relax the mind, increase flexibility, and dramatically improve recovery rates. Sports Massage is also highly effective in aiding the rapid recovery of an athlete from an injury by encouraging greater kinesthetic awareness and in turn promoting the body's natural immune function.

Structural Integration

Structural integration employs soft tissue manipulation with the goal of realigning the body in relationship to the force of gravity. The theory underlying structural integration asserts that often the body's connective tissue is \"bound up,\" thus restricting opposing muscles from working independently of one another. Thus, we aim to loosen the restricted connective tissue by using a practice very similar to deep tissue massage. Practitioners typically prescribe a specific sequence of ten sessions lasting between 75 and 90 minutes in order to \"unlock\" the whole body.

Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility.

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger Point Therapy is a style of bodywork that focuses on stimulating and releasing \"trigger points\" in your body. Trigger points are tender areas of tension similar to acupressure points, except they occur in the belly of the muscle rather than along the energy pathways of the body. These \"knots\" are built up throughout a person's life due to physical, mental, and/or emotional stress. During a session, focused pressure is applied through a variety of techniques order to release your trigger points. This process can be quite painful at times, yet the effects are lasting and profoundly transformative.

Russian Massage

Developed in the former Soviet Union, Russian Massage is considered to be one of the most non-invasive and relaxing forms of massage therapy. Combining aspects of both therapeutic and sports massage, it uses a variety of specific techniques to release stress and enhance circulation. As with all forms of massage therapy, open communication during the session is encouraged to make sure you are enjoying the experience as much as possible.

Cancer/Oncology Massage

Oncology Massage is a special type of massage developed specifically for cancer patients. Cancer patients have unique needs which must be addressed to make sure that a massage is beneficial to their health. I focus my attention on creating a gentle, nurturing environment for you to relax into.

Myotherapy

Developed by physical therapist Bonnie Pruden in 1976, myotherapy involves applying focused pressure onto specific points of the body called \"trigger points\". Trigger points are places in the body that can cause pain to other areas of the body. For instance a trigger point on the hamstring might cause pain in the lower back. These trigger points are dissolved by applying direct pressure to the muscle for several seconds with either the hands, fingers, or elbows. Through several sessions of myotherapy, trigger points are eliminated, restoring full function and health to the body.
